The person that I believe should be the one to win the CNN heroes award for 2010 is Anuradha Koirala. This is a woman who actively seeks to help young girls in Nepal and India stop from getting involved in the sex trafficking business. These girls are tricked into believing that they are going to be given a good job to help support their families and then they are moved across the border into Nepal and can never return home. Anuradha personally experienced this when she turned nine and from them on, once she managed to escape, she has rescued 12,000 children from the sex rings. She was rescued from her slavery when she was 14 by the police, and since 1993, she's been trying to raid brothels and other sex slavery areas in an attempt to stop this from happening as often in India.
The reason I think that this woman is the one who should win the 2010 CNN heroes is because she was once a victim of the abuse that occurred there so she had personal experience with how dangerous it is to try and help out the children and try to stop the trafficking. However, even with the dangers of being captured or killed herself by traders, she continues to keep trying. This is what I think that a heroine should be, someone who stands up for what she believes in no matter the danger she might be putting herself in. It is because she realizes how horrible the sex trafficking ring is that she wants to stop it. If everyone was able to follow her example in our own lives, then the world would definitely be a better place. Anuradha Koirala reminds us all that one person can make a difference and I think she could inspire so many people into acting against what wrongs they see in everyday life.
Vicky I think the person that you picked is a great example of hero ship. Anuradha Koirala is a great example of how someone can take something horrible that has happened in their lives and turn it into to something that saves lives. In poorer countries like Nepal and India sex trafficking is practiced and little is done by the government to help these girls. It then falls on past victims or other people to take the laws into their own hands and help these girls. This woman is spreading awareness for this cause by doing something and helping the girls. After saving these girls she can offer them counseling and help from the trauma that they have suffered through. Koirala risks her life by raiding these places where there are dangerous men that could hurt her, this makes her a heroic. With out her help, many girls would be forced to live the horrible abusive lives they are living at the moment and also help prevent girls from being kidnapped. I like when you say that this proves that one person can make a difference to a cause because she proves this. After suffering from her own abuse, Koirala could have given up and become silent but has instead used this to make her stronger and give her the strength to save these girls. Koirala can now inspire many people to fight for a cause that they are passionate about or to help people that are in need or suffering. I think that Koirala is an inspiration that horrible things in life can make someone stronger instead of weaker. With out her help 12,000 girls would still be suffering abusive lives but Koirala has put an end to that. I think that you are right in that if people made efforts to help others in this way then the world would be a safer and a more better place.

Victoria, I also admire your hero. When people are looked upon as heroes for aiding things such as trafficking t gives me hope for the world, that we can make something better for ourselves. Selfless individuals like Koirala inspire others to do the same and devote our time and energy to those who need us. With the opportunities we are given, it is our responsibility to share our blessings and help others. It takes a lot for a single person to stand against those who do wrong to either them or others, especially in an act such as this where dominance plays a large role. Trafficking is a wide-spread horror that is not commonly recognized, for reasons beyond my comprehension. Somebody like Koirala, stepping up even though she was victimized, is beautiful in itself. She suffered and wants to ease others from that. She has firsthand experience which is only a plus in her fight.
